Things To Do In Wyoming

There are a vast amount of Wyoming attractions. Beginning with Yellowstone Park, open almost all year it offers its own brand of epic beauty and grandeur. In Yellowstone Park, you can camp in a tent or in a RV and wake up everyday to rustic beauty and fresh air.  Jackson Hole is a great place to head in the winter, with some of the best skiing in the county, and an equally exciting place to go in the summer as it is just miles away from Grand Teton National Park and Snake River Canyon.  In addition to the following things to do, it can also be helpful to check into tours and day trips in Wyoming or suggested itineraries.

Visit the Hot Springs and Geysers

One of the world famous attractions Wyoming offers is Old Faithful. This natural geyser releases pressurized water daily from the earth and is a spectacular site. Another beautiful Yellowstone park attraction is the Mammoth Hot Springs; Native American lore says these waters have healing and rejuvenation properties.

See the Black Hills

Wyoming attractions almost have no limit you can visit the Black Hills National Forest where the annual Sundance Film Festival is held. If you are an outdoors person you can fish at Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, it is lesser known than some of the more traditional places to fish, so it offers tranquility and peace with a catch. Remember, if you are going to be fishing or hunting in Wyoming you must first attain a Wyoming fishing or hunting license. The most efficient way to do this to book your non-resident license on line. If you are without a license, you may be fined for lack of being able to produce a proper license.

Ski at Jackson Hole

If you desire to ski, then Jackson Hole is your destination. Jackson Hole is considered the "Crown Jewel of the Rocky Mountains." It also offers winter and summer venues. In the winter, this Wyoming attraction boasts some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the United States. An elevation of over 5,000 ft snow can be expected on a frequent basis. Vacation packages that include lodging, ski rental, transportation are readily available.

Grab A Pint a the Million Dollar Club

After a long day or skiing or snowboarding you can have a pint at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar with its astounding decor and nightly live music, it may prove to be a favorite Wyoming attraction of yours. If skiing doesn’t get you going, then try visiting the capital of Wyoming, Cheyenne. You can see the historical state capital, if want to see how cowboys and Indians lived, you can visit the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, with antique horse-drawn carriages, wagons and early automobiles.

Take a Trolley Tour

To get an overview of historical Cheyenne, try a trolley tour around the major tourist attractions: the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion and some historic districts. Even haunted tours are offered around the Halloween season. Things to do in Wyoming range from touring Yellowstone National Park with its geysers and natural mineral springs, to taking a terrific trolley tour the capital city and hearing hear the stories of cowboys and Native Americans. You can do all of that in Wyoming.

Buffalo Bill Historic Museum

This historic museum, located in the town of Cody (named for Buffalo Bill Cody), is a great place to learn about Buffalo Bill and also about the history of the Old West at the same time.  An archive of Old West photographs which include shots of the Cowboys and Indians who once lived in this part of Wyoming are housed here, as well as a collection of information about the shows put on by Buffalo Bill.

Cheyenne Frontier Days

Cheyenne Frontier Days is Wyoming’s largest and most popular rodeo.  The rodeo is an annual event and takes over the city of Cheyenne each July.  The rodeo has been in place since the late 19th century, and continues to draw thousands of guests each year.  Musical guests, contests, and of course rodeo shows are the main events at the Cheyenne Frontier Days.
