Wyoming is full of natural beauty, wide-open spaces, accompanied by tales of the old west cowboys and Native Americans. If there is one popular attraction in Wyoming that thousands of people come to do every year it’s Wyoming camping.


Camping in Wyoming can be one of the most interesting and exciting adventures ever. There are hundreds of Wyoming campground spread out over the state. The most famous camping in Wyoming attraction is Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone offers over 10,000 + acres of potential camping space. Some campgrounds are specially designated as Wyoming RV campgrounds.


These Wyoming RV campgrounds campsites have all the necessities needed for your RV. However, bear in mind that these Wyoming RV campgrounds have weight and length restriction on the RV’s. There are 12 campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park. The National Park Service at Indian Creek, Lewis Lake, Mammoth, Norris, Pebble Creek, Slough Creek, and Tower Fall operates seven of these campgrounds. Sites at these campgrounds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are rules set in place at on a Wyoming campground such as, camping is limited to 14 days between July 1 and Labor Day to 30 days the rest of the year. There is no limit at Fishing Bridge RV Park. Checkout time for all campgrounds is 10:00 am.


There is no camping available at the Old Faithful Geyser. The entrance fee is $25 for a private vehicle, non-commercial vehicle; $20 for each snowmobile or motorcycle; or $12 for each visitor 16 and older entering by foot, bike, ski, etc. This fee provides the visitor with a 7-day entrance permit for both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. Remember to keep your admission receipt in order to re-enter the parks.


Grand Teton National Park is another popular place to go camping in Wyoming. Other popular sites are Gros Ventre, Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain, Colter Bay, and Lizard Creek These campsites are also first come first serve basis. These Wyoming campgrounds are not as busy as Yellowstone National Park, so getting a spot may not be as cumbersome.


The fee for camping at Grand Teton is slightly different than Yellowstone. Their fees are based on the carrying capacity of the vehicle (driver not included). 1-6 carrying capacities: $25 plus $10 per person. 7-15 carrying capacities: $125. 16-25 carrying capacities: $200.26 or more carrying capacity: $300. However, Jenny Lake is for tents only, RV’s are not allowed. Wyoming camping by foot, by bike van or RV is an affordable, comfortable and exciting way to spend a vacation in Wyoming.
