On the border of Morne Trois Pitons National Park near the town of Pont-Casse you'll find Corona's, one of the many roadside stands throughout the mountainous area of Dominica, and a popular drop-in spot for friends, neighbors, and travelers. At Corona's you can buy body creme made of local coconut and aloe, fresh grapefruit and oranges, and handcrafted jewelry made with beads, seeds, and shells. Take the time to "lime" for a minute, and you can share a laugh and a story for free.

Located in Dominica's capital city, Roseau, The Fort Young Hotel was a working military fort from 1720 to 1859. Originally a rough wooden structure built by the French, it was rebuilt in 1770 by Dominica's first British Governor, Sir William Young. From 1859 to 1955 the fort served as Dominica's police headquarters, where the brass cannons at the entrance were fired every night to signal the arrival of the Royal Mail. In 1964 the Fort Young Hotel was opened, and then totally destroyed by Hurricane David in 1979. The newly renovated hotel was reopened in early 1989, and now stands along the waterfront as one of Dominica's finest hotels.

Mango's

Portsmouth, on the northeast coast, is home to Mango's Bar and Restaurant, a favorite local hangout specializing in Creole cooking. Lobster, chicken, fish, and mountain chicken (frog) are regular features. The cheery interior displays a colorful mural of Caribbean life.
