Iining on St. Thomas is a pleasure, with a wide range of food styles mirroring the diverse Caribbean dining culture. Street vendors sell salt fish, stew mutton, pot fish, callaloo soup, and banana fritters; local cafes provide popular American, European, and West-Indian selections; and upscale restaurants serve gourmet cuisine. The Agave Terrace at Point Pleasant Resort offers excellent Caribbean-American dishes featuring fresh fish, lobster, crab legs, and shrimp. The chef's inventive sauces include Caribbean flavors blended with traditional classics, such as Hollandaise sauce laced with passion fruit. The Crab Paradise and Lobster Chinole appetizers are a house specialty. Wine aficionados will enjoy themselves at Agave Terraceóthe proprietor is a connoisseur who collects burgundies, and the restaurant has won numerous awards from Wine Spectator magazine. Sip to your heart's content at the indoor/outdoor Lookout Lounge while you take in the gorgeous ocean view.

Ask any local where to get the best authentic West Indian cuisineómost of them will point you to Eunice's Terrace, near Smith Bay. Every plate comes big and full of flavor. Entrees are served with traditional rice, beans, fungi (a corn dish similar to polenta), sweet potato and plantain. Eunice's World Famous Steamed Conch is a menu favorite, and you shouldn't leave without sampling a piece of rum cake topped with heavy whipped cream.
