Mendoza hotels offer a wide variety of lodging possibilities to suit just about any budget and interest. They range from five-star luxury hotels and charmingly intimate boutique properties to comfortable budget hotels, hostels and even campgrounds.
The best location for enjoying the city is around the central Plaza Independencia and some of the finest of the hotels in Mendoza are located in this area. One of the best is the beautiful Park Hyatt Mendoza, Hotel Casino and Spa at Chile 1124, a broad avenue that runs along the west side of the plaza. Its 19th century Spanish colonial façade has been beautifully restored. From this location, you have easy access to everything the city has to offer, plus you are only about 15 minutes from the main vineyards and 90 minutes from the major ski resorts, two of the most popular tourist attractions of the region. There are 186 luxurious rooms and suites, a selection of restaurants, bars and lounges, a wine bar, free Internet service, a full service spa, and a casino offering a variety of table games and slot machines.
If you want the same quality as the Park Hyatt, but want one of the Mendoza hotels a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you might want to choose the Cavas Wine Lodge. This lovely property is located in beautiful countryside at the foot of the Andes Mountains about 30 minutes south of the city, and it is surrounded by many of the best wineries in Argentina. It is, in fact, set within the grounds of a 35 acre vineyard. (The address is Costaflores s/n, Alto Agrelo M 5507, Mendoza.) This is an exclusive and intimate boutique lodge with only 14 sumptuously appointed and uniquely-designed rooms with private pool. There is a fine gourmet restaurant and an exclusive wine cellar showcasing 250 wines from the region.
Located at Avenue Spain 1210 just a block east of Plaza Independencia, the Gran Hotel Mendoza is one of the most popular three-star Mendoza hotels in the city. A ten-minute walk gets you to all the major attractions of the city, including the best shopping areas. There is a breakfast restaurant, full service spa, fitness center, and Interne servicet.
The Argentino is another of the popular three-star Mendoza hotels. Located at Espejo 455, it is also only a block from Plaza Independencia. The hotel is set in a lush garden with a swimming pool. There is a restaurant, free wifi Internet service, and complimentary breakfast buffet. There is also a restaurant serving lunch and dinner. Both the Argentino and Gran Hotel are excellent city-center values.
The Villagio Hotel (also pictured above) is one of the boutique Mendoza hotels. It boasts only 26 charming rooms, a spa with hot tub and sauna, solarium and gym, and a breakfast restaurant. It’s located at 25 de Mayo 1010, only a black east of Plaza Independencia.
On the other end of the scale is the La Cava Hostel, located at 1702 Avenue San Martin, about eight blocks to the northeast of Plaza Independecia. This hostel is located in a beautifully restored mansion built in 1935 by a celebrated architect from the city. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood on a street lined with trees and is an easy walk to the downtown district. There are rooms accommodating two, four, or six guests and some have en suite bathrooms. There is a game room, a communal kitchen with modern appliances, and a movie theater with a 200” screen. The hostel boasts a bar and grill, swimming pool, dining room, and laundry service.
