If you're only in town for a few nights and want to enjoy
your accommodations, spend the extra $25 and upgrade to
the Presidential suite, which is $80 a night. Overlooking
the main plaza, this suite has a great view of the comings
and goings but might be too much for some. Escape to the

Hostal. The airy and elegant indoor patio is a cool, quiet
place to relax with a cool drink after spending a morning
walking around town. Retreat to the serenity of the garden
out back; the high walls create an inviting retreat from
the bustle of the city. You will want to try at least
one meal in the rustic dining area of this Sucre Hotel.
Take a seat in one of the heavy wooden chairs and admire
the fine dinnerware on display. All you pay is $25 for
a single and $35 for a double. These are enormous, clean,
and quiet rooms with a nice seating area by the window,
where you can watch the people come and go.
As everything in Sucre is located within walking distance,
the conveniently located Hotel Independencia is a good
starting point for your walking tour of Sucre, which is
known for its excellent chocolates and sweets. A lot of
tourists on overnight stays use the Hotel Independencia,
which is included in some tour packages of Sucre.
Cruz de Popayan Hostel with its private bathrooms and
spacious rooms is a very affordable $15 USD for a single,
and $20 for a double. Only two blocks from the town's
