El Colorado Ski Area Chile

El Colorado Ski Area Chile visitors can often enjoy plenty of fresh powder, and regardless of when they visit, fantastic views of the Santiago Valley will be part of the mix. The capital city of Santiago is only about 30 miles away, which makes El Colorado one of the easiest Chile ski resorts to access. Regardless of where you are coming from, 2,470 total skiable acres will be at your disposal at the El Colorado Ski Area. Dozens of trails cater to beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers and snowboarders, and twenty lifts are in place to move guests around. While some high-quality snow often blankets the various runs at El Colorado, snowmaking equipment is in place to help cover some of the total area when Mother Nature isn't cooperating.

On an El Colorado Ski Area Chile visit, you might find that your first day is best spent relaxing and adjusting to the altitude. The base of the ski area is almost 8,000 feet above sea level, and should you take the lifts to the top, you'll be at an altitude of 10,935 feet. Something that you won't likely find needs adjusting to are the mountain views. Snowcapped peaks that exhibit many of the same visual qualities as the Rocky Mountains and the Alps rise up all around. Interestingly enough, visitors to El Colorado Ski Area Chile can venture into the surrounding mountains by way of helicopter to access untouched runs and fields of powder. These trips, which are best left to advanced skiers and snowboarders, cost extra and are worth saving up the extra money for if you want to experience a more extreme way to ski.

On a trip to El Colorado, visitors can also consider paying extra to access the La Parva Ski Resort or the Valle Nevado Ski Resort. Together with the El Colorado Ski Area, these areas comprise the 3 Valleys region, which is the largest linked ski region in South America. The La Parva Ski Resort caters mostly to skiers and families. Some of its slopes are even closed to snowboarders. It is also important to note that La Parva is more of a day destination. Save for the privately owned condos and apartments, there are no lodging options at the La Parva Ski Resort. As for the El Colorado Ski Area hotels and the Valle Nevado hotels, they offer some excellent lodging options for those who don't own a condo or apartment in the area. Condo and apartment rentals can also be found at El Colorado and Valle Nevado.

The El Colorado Ski Area hotels can be fine places to stay when visiting the general Santiago area, especially if you wish to escape to the mountains for some skiing or snowboarding. Among the more attractive hotels in the area is the Apart Hotel Aspen, which can be found across from the El Colorado slopes. You can rent a cabin or an apartment-style unit at the Apart Hotel Aspen. While not overly luxurious, these cabins and apartment-style rooms feature kitchenettes and are comfortable.

The mountain village of Farellones is where the bulk of the El Colorado Ski Area hotels can be found. These hotels include the Powder Lodge, which features comfortable rooms and a guest hot tub, and the Hotel Farellones, which boasts a great restaurant and excellent views of the Chilean capital. For those on the cheap, The Aleman is arguably the top pick when it comes to the El Colorado Ski Area hotels. This hostel offers the lowest rates around and is especially popular with students, backpackers, and young people in general.
