Valle Nevado Chile

Valle Nevado is one of the most popular ski resorts in Chile. It is also one of the most modern, having joined the scene in 1988. A businessman from France founded the Valle Nevado Ski Resort, and you might be interested to know that he modeled it after the ski resorts in the European Alps. This helps to create a pleasant atmosphere, not to mention a variety of fun things to do. On the modern side of things, a high-speed detachable quad lift is in place to help get visitors up to the mountain. This is the only lift of its kind on the continent. Also accentuating the overall experience is a big terrain park where jumps, rails, and other fun things can be found, and as an added bonus, heli skiing and snowboarding excursions are easy to arrange.

Valle Nevado is approximately 30 miles from the Chilean capital city of Santiago. This has a lot to do with the resort's overall popularity. Also adding to the popularity of the Valle Nevado Ski Resort is the fact that it offers more skiable terrain than any other ski resort in South America. Visitors have nearly 7,000 total skiable acres at their disposal, and as you might expect, this ample terrain features runs for all levels. As if this wasn't enough, visitors can also access off-piste runs par excellence. These off-piste runs include some fantastic bowls that are simply divine on powder days.

During your time at the Valle Nevado Ski Resort, you might entertain the option of booking a heli skiing or snowboarding adventure. On these adventures, a few lucky souls board a helicopter and access unexplored powder runs that can be almost 6,600 feet long! The rates for heli skiing and snowboarding are more affordable than you might think, especially if you limit yourself to one run. Even if you only take one run on a heli skiing or snowboarding excursion, the memories are likely to last a lifetime. Back at Valle Nevado, visitors who aren't yet ready for such adventures, or even the beginner slopes for that matter, can always book some lessons. Both group and private lessons can be enjoyed, and there are even lessons for more advanced riders who want to improve their skills. You can rent everything from a board or skis to coats, goggles, and everything else that you will need to enjoy a fun and comfortable day on the slopes.

When Valle Nevado Ski Resort visitors aren't skiing or snowboarding, they can stroll the streets in the attractive village. They can also do some shopping. In addition to souvenir and gift shops, Valle Nevado features a handful of stores that sell mountain sportswear and equipment. Visit during one of the special events, and you might also find yourself sipping on fine Chilean wines and enjoying some excellent food. In June, Valle Nevado puts on the Gastronomic Festival, which focuses on food, and for one week in August, wines from Chile take center stage during the Chile Wine Fest. The ski season at the Valle Nevado Ski Resort, should you be wondering, kicks off in June and comes to a close in October.

Valle Nevado Chile lodging offers some tantalizing options, which is just one more reason to consider dropping by for some mountain fun. The hotels include the high-end Hotel Valle Nevado, the especially family-friendly Hotel Puerta Del Sol, and budget Hotel Tres Puntas. All of these Valle Nevado Chile lodging establishments provide comfortable accommodations, as well as a bar and a restaurant. At the more upscale Hotel Valle Nevado, the facilities also include a spa and a fitness center, and should you stay at the Hotel Puerta Del Sol, a cinema and a special Kids Zone will be at your disposal.

Adding to the Valle Nevado Chile lodging options are the apartments. The apartments at this lovely Chilean ski resort can accommodate anywhere from two to eight people comfortably and feature kitchenettes, lockers, decks for savoring the mountain views and mountain air, central heating, and indoor parking.
