Flights To Peru

When booking flights to Peru from either Europe or the United States, you will find that all of them, barring some rare outsiders, will arrive in Lima. The Lima Jorge Chávez International airport is the largest airport in Peru, and even if you are arriving on Peru flights destined for Cusco, you will likely still land in Lima first. Thus, it is a good idea to prepare for at least a night’s lodging at one of the Lima hotels as you will likely catch your connecting flight to Cusco the next morning. Many major airlines have Peru flights that come from major cities in Latin America, Europe, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and even Africa.

From the United States, direct flights to Peru can be found in cities like Miami, New York and Dallas, among others, and among the main carriers are Continental, American and Delta. Major airlines operating flights from Canada do not offer direct flights, instead stopping first in the United States. Most major flights to Peru from the United Kingdom also generally include a link in the United States. The peak season for Peru flights generally falls during the months of May through September. This is widely considered the best time to enjoy the Andes Mountains, including visits to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. As a result, you generally won’t have the best luck finding cheap flights to Peru during this time period. Once you arrive on one of the Peru flights, the relatively affordable domestic flights in Peru offer the most practical means of getting to your primary destinations. Renting a car in Peru is generally not advised, bus travel can be long, and trains are rare. Domestic flights in Peru are pretty cheap when you consider the time and energy that they will save you.

If you travel to Peru during the peak season, or if you end up buying your ticket at the last minute, you will generally end up paying extra for it. A good rule of thumb when purchasing airline tickets, is to do so as far in advance as possible. Not only does this almost always save you a significant amount of money, but it also gives you time to compare different flights. Searching the internet is a good way to find cheap flights to Peru, as you can search for special deals or offers. Some travel sites offer discounts on everything from airfare, to hotels and transportation, especially if you book them together. Being flexible with your dates is often key to finding cheap flights to Peru, and if you catch a late night, or midweek flight, you can sometimes find extra savings there.

If you are enrolled in a frequent flier program, this is undoubtedly one of the best ways to get cheap flights anywhere. Not that you will necessarily rack up enough points by the time your vacation rolls around to fly for free quite yet, it’s good to start somewhere, especially if your departure is long off. When you do eventually arrive in Peru, just make sure not to try your hand at hitchhiking, unless you really enjoy living on the edge. You can easily arrange a taxi to your hotel when you arrive on Peru flights, and if you have reservations at any of the hotels in Peru cities with airports, your hotel will likely arrange for airport pick-up. Often times, you can take a bus to the center of town from the airport.
