 inety feet below the water on south side of St. Thomas lies the wreckage of the 400-foot freighter, W.I.T. Shoal, a fascinating dive site to explore and a favorite St. Thomas dive destination. Admiralty Dive Center (www.admiraltydive.com), located in Charlotte-Amalie, offers private and custom trips to the W.I.T. Shoal and a variety of other reef and wreck locations, providing personalized service to a maximum of six divers per boat. Packages are available for beginner or expert divers, with discounts for multiple dives.
The Chrysler reef, near Flat Cay, is named after another wreckóa 110-foot yacht owned by the Chrysler Company. The yacht went aground upon the rocks near the harbor and remained there until scattered by Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Now only remnants of debris remain on the sea floor.
