Mundo Perdido

Here, you stand atop the Lost World Pyramid. Over 100 feet tall, the pyramid includes four stairways that reach the top, each one flanked by massive stone-carved masks. Its truncated top distinguishes it from other temples that reach skyward. Looking out from the summit, Temple IV and the Temples of the Great Plaza are visible, rising through the jungle canopy.

You can only imagine the spectacular sights of the rest of the city during its heyday: the painted temples in the distance, the bustle of the many workers, and the royalty regaled in jade and bright colors. This structure and others in the Lost World complex contained tombs that were filled with some of the most exquisite ceramics found in the entire Mayan civilization.
