Traveling or Not in the wake of COVID-19 / Coronavirus

Before last fall, no one knew what COVID-19 was and maybe had heard of a Coronavirus. But things have changed and things have changed quickly. Wondering about the Corona Virus name? The new illness initially had the temporary name 2019-nCoV. On February 11, 2020, the WHO officially named the illness COVID19, pronounced “co-vid 19.” It’s short for coronavirus disease, with the “19” designating 2019, the year it was first identified. The official name of the virus itself is severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, or SARS-CoV-2.

Here's our advice for these unprecedented and scary times with the Coronavirus expanding around the world. Consider not traveling, reading a good book, watching YouTube videos about things of interest, getting a head start on your garden, and enjoying outdoor exercise. How about planning a new trip for the fall? Here's some virtual tours of destinations throughout the world. Search your hometown and find something to-do outside.

Air travel is not recommended period. If you're thinking of traveling consider a road trip or day trip with minimal exposure to the people and places your traveling to. What better time to get back to nature, cookout, and live on the basics? It may give you a new appreciation for the luxury trip we've all enjoyed. Instead of dining out consider calling ahead to get takeout. Take it to a park, or some place to enjoy the outdoors.

Here's a great quote by Kitty O'Meara to consider:

"And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.

"And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.

"And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."
