Globalstar Rental

A Global star rental is a popular choice with world travelers. You have a range of plans and prepayment options when you choose a Globalstar satellite phone rental. Whether you are using your Globalstar phone to make long distance calls from the US or using it outside of the country, this company offers fixed or mobile phone and you can tailor your plan to best suit your needs.

Since it first launched in 1998, the Globalstar networks' development was tailored towards the business traveler. The Globalstar phone system was supposed to serve the needs of customers on the go, who were passing in and out of cellular network coverage areas. This network has 48 low-orbiting satellites, at an inclination of 52 degrees. This limits the polar coverage compared to Iridium system's satellites, which orbit at a higher 86.4-degree inclination.

This portable and lightweight handset is designed to switch from the cellular to satellite network depending on your location. Whenever you are within range, your Global Star Rental phone will stay on the cellular network. When you go out of range you will automatically be linked on the satellite network. This way, you only have to use the more costly satellite service only when there is no other option.

Although this is a great feature that makes Globalstar stand out from other satellite phone rentals, the coverage area is somewhat limited when you compare it to its competitors. It mainly covers the Americas, Russia, and some areas in Asia. Globalstar phone Service is limited to about 100 countries and their territorial waters, along with some places mid-ocean.

You can also have data and fax transfer abilities with a Globalstar satellite phone rental but this coverage is limited as well. The reliability of the signals leaves much to be desired with a Global star rental as well, since you have a better chance of losing your signal as it goes through a number of satellites before it connects the signal.

If the coverage limitations or the signal reliability are two factors of a Globalstar phone you can deal with, then this is an economical and convenient choice of phones.
