The Nocturnal Festival is a huge electronic music event that is only growing in popularity and tours to locations around the US, and it's shaping up to be one of the great festivals of its type.
Nocturnal Music Festival Music
Nocturnal Festival 2016 is a music festival featuring almost every kind of electronic music imaginable. The festival is a colossal collaboration of artists performing all genres of electronica, including break beat, house, drum and bass, trance, and myriad fusion-based styles. The music style goes hand in hand with dance music culture, and the colorful and eclectic costumes of festival-goers is almost fantastical. Popular bands include Disco Biscuits (of Camp Bisco fame), Roni Size, Galactic, and Bassnectar.
Nocturnal Music Festival History
The first Nocturnal Festival tickets to go on sale were in 1995, when Insomniac, the festival producers, first initiated the project. Nocturnal was a transient festival, moving locations for lack of a steady venue—incidentally, early on it was held at the Coachella Valley Indio Polo Grounds, the home of the Coachella Music Festival. In 1998, it kicked off at San Bernardino's The National Orange Show where it returned from 2003 through 2010 for lack of another venue with adequate space for all the special festival rooms and events.
Nocturnal Music Festival Facts
More than 50,000 people attend Nocturnal Music Festival annually. It is an event spanning only one day and usually featured toward the end of the summer. Generally, the Nocturnal Festival has hosted more than 30 music artists performing between five stages. The festival is defined by several key aspects, including art installations, theatrics (fire-throwers, trapeze artists, go-go-dancers), phenomenal sensory-focused decor, and Vendor Village where tons of unique items are for sale. Each of the five stages is characterized by a certain style of music and a specific theme and features a main room. The five rooms can vary from year to year depending on space, but often include such things as:
The Queen's Grounds: fire throwing and dancing, carnival rides, and merchandise booths are the main attraction along with a more than 350-foot wall mural by a famous LA-based artist.
The Upside Downroom: Nocturnal Festival tickets 2016 include entry to all main rooms, including this bubble-themed area where the effect is akin to an IMAX movie theater.
The Sunken Garden: This area is all about the intensity of the experience, with massive speakers, throbbing bass, and freestyling MCs. Drum and bass is what The Sunken garden is all about, which means the perfect place to dance the night away.
Alice's House: Beside the beautiful artificial lagoon, in an oversized field is Alice's House, where an outdoor concert stage welcomes all seeking a place outside of the massive energy in the other indoor spaces. The theme aligns perfectly with nature and so does the music, with groovy, chilled-out house tunes.
The Labyrinth: This is the most over-the-top room at the Nocturnal Music Festival and a sight to see with a kaleidoscope of colors emitted from huge, splashy designs, a wonderland of large, hanging shapes, smoke machines, light shows, and lasers. One of the best features has been the implementation of trapeze artists flying above the crowds.
