Fall Vacation Destinations
Fall vacations are your last chance to escape and enjoy the great outdoors before the winter months set it. The only difficulty you will have planning a trip is choosing between the great fall vacation spots. Head to New Hampshire to hike amongst the famous fall foliage, explore the art galleries of San Francisco, or go fishing in the Blue Ridge Mountains to enjoy the last pleasant days of the year!
Best Fall Vacations
The most popular fall vacation destinations are those that showcase Mother Nature. After the soaring temperatures and beach days of summer vacations, the cooler weather is a welcome change for many travelers. If you avoid hiking, fishing, and mountain biking during the summer because it is simply too hot, enjoy these activities in the cooler fall temperatures. There is often better value in vacation rentals during this season as well, making your dream mountain cabin easier on your bank account. From the mountains of Lake Tahoe to the Adirondacks, outdoor activities continue well into September, October, and November.
Other great October vacation spots provide one last glimpse of summer beach weather. Once the crowds have gone home from Florida, October is a great time to enjoy the sunny beaches without the humidity. While late August and September are prone to hurricanes, by the time October and November roll around this season has typically run its course. If you want one sunbathing trip before winter sets in, Florida, the Caribbean, and the coastline of Mexico all offer vacation deals to entice travelers to resorts and rentals. While these aren’t typical great fall vacation spots, they are just as fun for families and maybe a touch more relaxing.
Many people think of fall vacation destinations by the activities they can enjoy. Families with young kids especially will love the offerings of October vacation spots. Traditional activities from apple picking to pumpkin carving to making maple syrup will not only be fun, but will also connect your kids to nature. Many families who have enjoyed these activities make a trip to Vermont or New Hampshire an annual event, and one that the whole family looks forward to. If you’re planning an adults only trip, one of the best choices is to tour vineyards during harvest. In Napa Valley and beyond, autumn is a great time to visit vineyards and tour wineries.
The list of great fall vacation spots is practically endless. Golfers will love the cooler temperatures and smaller crowds on the course. Plan a trip to Hilton Head Island to enjoy a variety of golf courses and excellent weather. Fall is one of the best times of year to plan a trip to Europe. The crowds of summer have gone home, leaving a more authentic experience for travelers. Temperatures are also pleasant for touring cities and walking between attractions. Some avid travelers would argue that Paris, Rome, and Barcelona are at their absolute peak during the fall months. Weather, value, and fewer crowds are all making fall an increasingly more popular time to travel.
