El Squid Roe

El Squid Roe & Billy Kitchen bills itself as a “restaurant, bar & clothesline,” and is an icon of party spots in a town known for its rowdy nightlife and party atmosphere. (The clothesline refers to the boutique on the left of the entrance where you can buy Squid Roe tee shirts and other logo items.)

El Squid Roe is a three-story establishment that is so crowded and crackling with ear-splitting energy that it can take half your evening just getting from the entrance to the restrooms on the top story. Along the way, so will pass patrons dancing on tables and wait staff equipped with spray tanks of tequila – they are also are equipped with whistles in order to get your attention so they can sell you jello shots. The dance floor is on the ground floor and is open to voyeurs all the way up to the ceiling. Definitely not a place for the faint of heart.

Location / Address
On Lazaro Cardena (Sn, Centro, 23410) and Boulevard Marina – behind the Bonita Mall and across from the Hard Rock Café. This is the Marina district, which is the heart of the party scene. Also in this area are Cabo Wabo and the Giggling Marlin. Phone: +52 624 143 0655

Hours
El Squid Roe is open daily from noon till (at least) 3 am

Restaurant
Dinner is served until 11 in the evening. This means you can enjoy a (relatively) quiet meal before the music gets cranked up. Food offered concentrates on traditional Mexican cuisine, along with American cheeseburgers and fries.

Bar / Late Night
There are periodic skits presented by the staff on the dance floor and in the main salon. After the restaurant closes, there are food carts plying the crowds above the dance floor serving nachos and similar appetizers. There is a Party CEO who stands on a platform in the center of the dance floor ensuring that everything keeps going at a frenetic pace. He can rap and sing, and encourages the fun to never stop. On some nights, there is live music or popular disc jockeys – on these nights El Squid Roe is even more crowded.
