Buenos Aires Beaches

Buenos Aires beaches are one reason among many why people visit the capital city of Argentina. There are a variety of beaches right in the city, but many of the best beaches near Buenos Aires are located to the south along the Mar del Plata (pictured above) and in Montevideo Uruguay. Mar de las Pampas is nice for a tranquil beach-going experience near Buenos Aires and Mar de Ajo is another gorgeous Atlantic coast resort area. You have the option of staying in Buenos Aires and exploring the local coastline, but if you are intent upon a Buenos Aires beach vacation, you will probably want to work travel arrangements to some of the nicer southern beaches into your plans prior to settling your accommodations in order to experience the best beaches in the region.
The best beaches near Buenos Aires are along the breathtaking Mar del Plata. It is approximately 250 miles to the southeast of Buenos Aires, but can be easily reached by ferry or plane. It takes about three hours by ferry and 30 minutes by plane to reach the white sandy shores of the Mar del Plata. Once you reach it, you will experience some of the finest and most gorgeous stretches of beach in all of South America. The Mar del Plata is the premium beach and beach resort in Argentina and offers over ten miles of beaches that are peppered with luxurious accommodations, restaurants, clubs, bars, cafes, and much more. These are not necessarily Buenos Aires beaches, but if you are staying in the capital city and wish to spend some time at the Mar del Plata, prices for airfare are normally extremely affordable. It is not at all uncommon for people to enjoy a Buenos Aires beach vacation by traveling back and forth on a domestic carrier for relatively cheap prices. The coastline at the Mar del Plata certainly offers some of the best beaches near Buenos Aires, Argentina. You will enjoy much more than just laying out in the sun here. There is a range of water sports and activities to enjoy, as well as many beautiful examples of colonial architecture.

Some of the other best beaches near Buenos Aires are located in the capital city of Uruguay—Montevideo. Montevideo features miles of gorgeous beaches that many compare to the laid back and expansive stretches of coastline along the French Riviera. These are Uruguayan beaches, not Buenos Aires beaches, but they are relatively easy to reach from the capital of Argentina. Just as with the Mar del Plata, you can access the many beaches of Montevideo via ferry, plane, or train. The easiest way to do this is to take a quick and inexpensive flight to Montevideo, but if you are on an extremely tight budget, you may consider train fare and then look for an affordable accommodation while you enjoy the beaches in Uruguay.
You really cannot go wrong when you visit any of these places. If you are stationed in Buenos Aires you may have to do a little bit of traveling to reach the very best beaches in the area, but it will be well worth it when you arrive and see just how beautiful these destinations are. Plan to travel if you are organizing a Buenos Aires beach vacation, but understand that this is all just part of the fun of staying in this part of the world.
