Margaritaville

The Margaritaville restaurant chain, or Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, as it is officially known, has grown considerably since the brand’s first establishment opened in Orange Beach, Alabama in the 1980s. The chain now has a presence in several of the world’s most popular vacation destinations, with Jamaica being just one example. There are actually four Margaritaville Jamaica restaurants to choose from, and you can find them in places where tourists tend to congregate. Thanks to their laid-back appeal, these restaurants are right at home in the Caribbean, and they have little trouble attracting patrons with their variety of entertainment offerings.

Margaritaville Montego Bay

The first Margaritaville Jamaica restaurant opened in Montego Bay in 1995. That also makes it the first Margaritaville restaurant to open in the Caribbean. Among other things, this dining and entertainment outlet featured Jamaica’s first waterslide and a night club that quickly became one of Montego Bay’s hottest nightlife establishments. The Margaritaville Montego Bay continues to be a local hot spot, and both it’s 120-foot waterslide and its lively night club are still largely responsible for drawing them in. Complementing the waterslide are huge water trampolines and a floating Margaritaville deck that is anchored just offshore. You can find the Margaritaville Montego Bay along Gloucester Avenue, which is also commonly referred to as the "Hip Strip." For cruise ship passengers, it is approximately a 10-minute taxi or shuttle bus ride from the pier. As a side note, Montego Bay is also home to two Air Margaritaville establishments. These affiliated eateries and entertainment outlets are more specifically located at the Donald Sangster International Airport.

Margaritaville Negril

The second Margaritaville Jamaica restaurant opened in Negril in 1996. Much of this establishment’s allure lies in its wonderful location along Negril’s famous Seven Mile Beach. There are open-air dining areas that take advantage of the beachfront views. Breathtaking views of the ocean can also be savored in the upstairs Sunset Beach Bar, and patrons should be aware of the private beachside cabanas that are offered by the Margaritaville Negril. Other highlights at this popular island-themed hangout include its large flat screen TVs, its giant water trampolines, and its special children’s area. There’s also the convenient party bus service. The Margaritaville Party Buses are available to pick up restaurant patrons at their hotels, thus eliminating the need to drive or take a taxi.

Margaritaville Ocho Rios

The Margaritaville Ocho Rios opened in 2002. Jimmy Buffet and his band marked the event with a beachside concert. As is true of the other Margaritaville restaurants that can be found in Jamaica and abroad, the Margaritaville Ocho Rios operates as a bar and grill and offers "all-day family fun and night time entertainment." Its more specific location is the Island Village shopping and entertainment complex. That puts the restaurant just a short walk from the Ocho Rios cruise ship pier. Features of the Margaritaville Ocho Rios include, but are not limited to, a two-story waterslide, a rooftop hot tub, and a freshwater pool with a swim-up bar.

Margaritaville Falmouth Pier

In early 2011, the Jamaica destination of Falmouth started getting a lot of attention within the travel world. The main reason for this was the establishment of its cruise port. This Falmouth cruise port was built to accommodate the largest and newest cruise ships and now serves as a popular point of entry and/or exit for Jamaica tourists. To accommodate passengers on cruises who arrive or depart at Falmouth, the Margaritaville chain is unveiling the Margaritaville Falmouth Pier. This branch promises to be one of the most innovative restaurants that the Margaritaville chain has ever created, and you can bet that it will have little trouble attracting travelers.
