Amazon Bookstore in Seattle

The Amazon headquarters for the United States has been located in Seattle since the company got its start in the 1990s. While the location of these headquarters isn’t set to be altered, change is definitely on the way. That’s because the online retailer is building a new headquarters near its existing Seattle buildings. Originally, the plans were to build structures with a rectangular design. Amazon revised that proposal, adding three connected domes to the newly envisioned landscape of its headquarters.
The design inspiration for the new Amazon headquarters comes from buildings that are found all over the world. This includes a zoo in Germany and Singapore’s renowned Gardens by the Bay. Not only will the new Amazon domes be able to accommodate a multitude of workers. Part office space and part biospheres, they will also be able to foster the growth of new and mature trees. This falls in line with the company’s intentions to develop a downtown green space that will be known as "block 19." Accompanying the new headquarter buildings will be a recreational playing field, a dog park, and ample landscaping.
The new Amazon headquarters are expected to be completed by 2016. When finished, the new structures will bring even more attention to the South Lake Union district of downtown Seattle. Amazon is already responsible for drawing attention to this part of the city. The company’s director of global real estate and facilities, John Schoettler, made that point in a recent interview stating that “Once we started development there, everything started to spring up around us.” Apartment developers have certainly been keen on the significance of the Amazon headquarters. In recent years, Seattle has issued more new residential building permits than usual, and many of the new apartments are within walking or biking distance of the Amazon headquarters campus.
